The Denver Pet Expo is this weekend!

Come visit us at the Denver Pet Expo taking place this weekend (Aug 18-19)! It was a busy day today setting up our space for the event (with our amazing trusty assistant) and we are excited to be displaying some of our new favorite dog portraits at this event. From what we could tell while setting up there are going to be lots of other great vendors with dog related products at this expo including dog food, treats, toys, beds, leashes, and services including dog training, boarding/walking, veterinary clinics and more!

Be sure to stop by the Mark Stevens Photography booth when you visit the pet expo and enter to win our grand prize dog photography session (a $450 value).

Record February Snow for Denver

With the string of recent snow storms, Denver has broken the previous 103 year old record for the snowfall in February. While not everyone has been excited about the snow, our dogs have been loving it! Here's a fun shot of Duncan out playing with one of his favorite toys in the snow. He'd be a happy dog if it snowed every day! We hope that you have found a way to have fun in the snow, too.

Friendship comes in all sizes!

Meet Rex, the Great Dane puppy, and Weebles, the Shih Tzu puppy, who have recently become best dog friends since being rescued by Life is Better Rescue and they came in for a puppy photography session last week. Despite their huge size difference, they have become pals and spend their days playing with each other in their foster home. What makes them even more special is that both puppies are special needs dogs. Rex is a tripod and Weebles has a neurological disorder that makes life very wobbly for her. Even with these added challenges, Mark was able to get some great portraits of these dogs for the rescue.

Meet the Modern Dog Magazine Fall Cover Dog

We were thrilled to be contacted by the folks at Modern Dog Magazine recently to photograph their fall cover dog, Harley. Harley began his life at a puppy mill and lived a fairly terrible life until being rescued. Harley is now a spokesdog against puppy mills and works with National Mill Dog Rescue, an amazing group who is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing puppy mill dogs. Harley was a great little model at his photo shoot! Book a photography session for your dog with Mark by 9/30/14 and mention Harley and we'll donate your session fee to the National Mill Dog Rescue.

French Bulldog Puppy Portraits

Many of our clients want to bring in the newest addition to their families just as soon as they get them for puppy portraits. This little guy is barely 8 weeks old and his first outing with his new family was to come to our studio. His big sister, also a french bulldog, came along for some doggie sibling pictures. If you're planning to get a new furry family member, consider planning your pet photography around the time you bring the new puppy home. It's fun to capture them as puppies and then again, once they've grown up a little.

Boots for Boots

Mark recently had the privilege of photographing Boots, a kitty with an incredible story for her young age. Boots was rescued from euthanasia at barely 2 weeks old when she was dropped of at a municipal shelter with both of her rear feet cut off. The municipal shelter wasn't able to care for her, so Life is Better Rescue stepped in. She was bottle fed until she was able to eat on her own and that was just the beginning of this little girl's long road to recovery. She has since learned to walk with "house slippers" and will eventually need surgery to clean up the ends of her legs to help with the permanent fitting of prosthetics.

Could you help us get Boots for Boots? Even just by sharing this campaign, you can make the difference for a single cat, and any number of other animals in need. Visit the Life is Better Rescue website for more information or to donate. Also, this week only, Boots is being featured on the FLOAT website where you can purchase a Boots for Boots t-shirt and $8 from each sale will go towards her recovery.
